Event Summary
22nd October 2016
Mrs Macquaries Chair, Sydney
Sydney's The Domain exploded in colour and excitement as the Light The City festival rolled into town. Roller Racing International glittered on the main stage, tempting the thousands of cyclists and pedestrians in attendance to step up for Neon Rollers under the big top. Hundreds did, racing loved ones, nemeses or complete strangers for bragging rights and a moment of glory under the bright lights. Food trucks were a valuable source of carbohydrates, but the real energy came from the pulsating crowd, cheering riders to the finish. You can see some of the fastest times from the night here, learn more about RRI here or check out the action in the photos below.
Under the stars
In a nice change of those of us more used to running these events indoors, we were treated to a breathtaking backdrop of Sydney harbour, under a cloudless, starry sky.
A city of lights
RRI was just a small part of Sydney’s Light The City festival, illuminating The Domain and welcoming thousands of cyclists and pedestrians to the party.
Despite the cool night, the racing was still hellishly hot. In fact, some scorching times were laid down. Below you can find out which guys and gals had the fastest legs of the evening, or click here to see the full results. Think you can go faster? Check out our upcoming events for your opportunity to show us all how it's done.
